Meeting Rob Schwimmer & the NY Theremin Society
The New York Theremin Society performed at the Campus Theatre of Bucknell University on Wednesday, October 30 at 7:30pm.
In case you don’t know about Theremins, it is the only instrument that generates sound without being touched. The theremin is a melodic instrument of the electronic family typically played by moving the right hand between two projecting electrodes with the left hand controlling dynamics and articulation.
There were five Thereminists, each performing with his own style. Their names were: Rob Schwimmer, Dorit Chrysler, Scott Robinson, Llamano, and Cornelius Loy.
They performed both original and traditional pieces inspired by horror films – just in time for Halloween!
Oh, I forgot to mention that Rob Schwimmer is a cousin of my uncle Robert.
